Winecup is a hardy, drought-tolerant, sprawling perennial with magenta-colored blooms with a white eye that close in the evening and open in the morning. The blooms remain closed after pollination.
It works well in perennial gardens when allowed to trail around plant with contrasting shapes and textures, such as Prairie and Scarlet penstemons, Four-nerve daisy or ornamental grasses. It also does well in containers or trailing over a wall or on a hillside.
