Synonym: Thelypteris kunthii.

Southern Wood Fern is an attractive native fern with gracefully arching fronds. It thrives in part to full shade in most soils. It tolerates poor drainage as long as the soil is not compacted.

Wood Fern adds texture to a woodland garden. It spreads by rhizomes that can be controlled if spread is not desirable. It works well in a cottage garden, mixed borders, woodland gardens and naturalized areas.
