Helianthus maximiliani (Maximilian Sunflower)
$ 4.98
Maximilian Sunflower is a native perennial sunflower with cheery yellow flowers. It does spread through rhizomes and seeds, and might have to be controlled in smaller spaces. However, it is a must-have in naturalized areas, wildflower meadows, pocket prairies or wildlife habitats. It requires two years to become established. Perfect along a fence or a building.
Maximilian Sunflower is a wonderful nectar plant for butterflies and bees. Monarchs love this plant. It provides seeds for birds and other wildlife as well as habitat and cover for birds. It is also useful in erosion control. It can be cut back in June to encourage a thicker clump and control height. Flowers make excellent cut flowers.
