Little Bluestem is a lovely, graceful, medium size Texas native grass. It is drought tolerant and adaptable but will not tolerate wetlands or poor drainage. It reseeds easily. Little bluestem height ranges from one to three or four feet. It shows a range of color, from green to silvery blue to bronze, depending on the season. Once established it is drought tolerant and attractive all year round.
Little Bluestem provides cover, food and nesting materials for birds and small mammals. It looks absolutely stunning planted en masse, in random patches, as an accent or in groupings. It is a must-have in wildscapes, micro-prairies, or naturalized gardens in full or part sun.
